Emily G. Johnston, Attorney at Law

Emily G. Johnston grew up in Statesville, North Carolina. She is the fourth child of five children. As a child she studied hard, ran from her brothers, and tried to paint and play piano. She attended Salem Academy her junior and senior years, and holds Salem in high regard. She credits Salem with having given her exceptional study skills and lifelong friends.

Emily attended MBA/JD school at UNC-Chapel Hill after graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with a major in French. She spent her junior year in Montpellier, France. During law school and MBA school, she frequently saw famous basketball players on the Tar Heel team because the gym was in between the law and business schools.

After graduating with her prized degree, Emily relocated to the Charleston area to be close to her parents who had retired on Kiawah Island. Kiawah remains one of her favorite places, but her favorite activity is hiking in the mountains near Caesars Head, South Carolina. She is the proud mother of a son and twin daughters. Emily loves practicing law and meeting and helping new people. She attends church at St. Andrews in Mount Pleasant and is active in a statewide organization focused on bettering the practice of law.

Victoria ("Tori") K. Rhea, Attorney at Law

Victoria ("Tori") K. Rhea received her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law with a concentration in children's law. While in school, Tori was a member of the Moot Court Bar, a member of Phi Alpha Delta, an editor for the Journal of International Law and Business, and participated in the pro bono program Homeless Legal Clinic. Tori did extensive work in the Juvenile Justice Clinic, preparing and presenting the legal defense of juveniles in cases involving allegations of delinquent misconduct.

Tori received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the College of Charleston where she minored in studio art. Tori is a graduate of Bishop England High School and is married to Andrew Edward Rhea, a lawyer with the local office of Moore & Van Allen, LLP. Tori and Andrew met in law school and were in the same family law class. They fell in love and got married in May 2016. Since their marriage, they have enjoyed living in Daniel Island.

Tori loves her job at the law office of Emily G. Johnston. Her passion is helping clients through difficult times and creating settlement agreements that peacefully and artfully resolve complicated issues. While not practicing law, Tori enjoys traveling, yoga and spending time with her toy poodles, Dolce and Shyla.

Sara Von Schweinitz, Paralegal

Sara von Schweinitz grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2014. Sara never dreamed that her degree in communications would lead to being a paralegal in a busy divorce practice, but her skills in that area have served her well. Sara joined the law office of Emily G. Johnston in July 2016. Since that time, she has learned to love financial declarations, discovery responses and walking clients through the process. She is kind and attentive.

Trese A. Freitag, Office Manager

In addition to setting appointments, answering the phones and managing client files, Trese also handles payroll, billing and client consoling.

Before becoming the heartbeat of EGJ Family Law firm, Trese was a manager at a telemarketing firm and spent five years working at Sylvan Learning center. She was also one of Emily's clients. After Trese's divorce was finalized, Emily offered her a job. Trese has stayed true to the firm for more than 14 years of dedication and commitment!

Trese holds a bachelor's degree in English literature with a minor in opera and received a second degree in elementary education. As the mother of an at-home, profoundly autistic adult son, Trese is a passionate advocate for the local autistic community, has spoken and trained families on health care methods for treatment and contributes countless hours to the care of her son. Emily is proud to have Trese at the front desk: Trese has studied the martial arts disciplines of kempo, kung fu and tai chi and currently holds a second-degree black belt in kempo. Now happily married again, she has been known to sing "Cabaret" in nightclubs, loves to garden and can shag like a good South Carolinian. What Trese can't do is cook.
